Modified design gets nod for Pavangad ROB approach road project
Kerala authorities have cleared a revised design for an approach road to the Pavangad Road Over Bridge after power cable complications halted initial construction work. The redesign addresses concerns raised by the State Electricity Board over underground high-voltage cables.

The Public Works Department has received approval to proceed with a modified plan for the approach road to the Pavangad Road Over Bridge following the resolution of a critical infrastructure conflict. The Kerala State Electricity Board had previously issued a notice halting piling operations after high-voltage power cables were discovered at the construction site.
The original alignment of the approach road would have cut through areas where 110-kilovolt and 11-kilovolt underground power cables are laid. These cables, critical for electricity distribution in the region, necessitated a change in the project's execution strategy to ensure both construction safety and uninterrupted power supply.
The revised design takes into account the location of the existing power infrastructure, allowing work to proceed without compromising essential utilities. This resolution represents coordination between multiple government agencies to balance developmental needs with the protection of existing public services.
The clearance of the redesigned plan removes a significant bottleneck that had stalled the project. The modified approach road is expected to enhance connectivity to the Pavangad interchange once construction resumes under the new specifications.
