STRASBOURG — Monaco reached the top of Ligue 1 standings on Saturday despite being held to a draw by RC Strasbourg in a match that saw them relinquish their unbeaten record.
A long-range strike from Paris Brunner proved decisive in securing the visiting side a point at the Stade de la Meinau. The goal, struck from distance, gave Monaco the lead but proved insufficient to extend their winning run as Strasbourg equalised before the final whistle.
The result means Monaco now sit atop the Ligue 1 table, though they surrendered their 100 percent winning record after the opening rounds of the season. The draw marks a turning point in what had been an impressive start to the campaign for the principality club.
