Monaco's perfect start to the Ligue 1 season came to an end on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against Strasbourg. Despite the setback, the principality club maintained their position atop the French top division.

Monaco's quest for an unblemished campaign in Ligue 1 was arrested when they drew 1-1 with Strasbourg, with Paris Brunner's second-half strike cancelling out an earlier own goal by Sadibou Sane.
Strasbourg took the lead shortly after the interval when Sane inadvertently diverted the ball past his own goalkeeper, putting the visitors in the ascendancy. The lead, however, proved short-lived as Brunner produced a clinical finish to level proceedings and restore parity to the encounter.
While the draw represented the first blemish on Monaco's record this season, the result proved sufficient to maintain their grip on first place in the Ligue 1 standings. The point allowed them to edge out Rennes, who occupied the summit prior to the weekend's fixtures.
Monaco will look to return to winning ways in their next fixture as the French campaign continues through the coming weeks.
