MANILA — Agricultural damage across the Philippines has reached P2.32 billion following the combined impacts of an enhanced southwest monsoon and three tropical cyclones, the Department of Agriculture announced Thursday.
The cyclones Luis, Maymay, and Neneng swept across the archipelago during the traditional typhoon season, compounding losses already sustained from the strengthened monsoon system. The latest damage tally represents a 21.5-percent increase from the P1.91 billion initially recorded, reflecting ongoing assessments from provincial agricultural offices.
The damage spans multiple agricultural commodities and livestock operations, with provincial reports still being consolidated. The Department of Agriculture continues to monitor the situation and coordinate with local government units to assess the full extent of losses and identify recovery assistance needed.
