MANILA — Residents across Luzon should prepare for persistent rainfall as the southwest monsoon maintains its grip on the region through Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
Forecaster Daniel Villamil noted in an evening weather briefing that overcast skies and ongoing precipitation will characterize conditions over much of the island, with the moisture-laden winds showing no signs of abating in the immediate term.
In contrast, portions of the Visayas and Mindanao are expected to remain under generally fair weather conditions during the same period, offering relief to communities in these areas. The clearer skies will provide opportunities for outdoor activities and agricultural work in the southern regions.
The forecast underscores the distinct weather patterns currently affecting different parts of the archipelago, with the monsoon system channeling moisture northward toward Luzon while allowing drier air masses to influence conditions across the central and southern Philippines.
