Moody's Investors Service has revised upward its growth forecast for India in fiscal year 2026-27 to 7 percent, up from its previous projection of 6 percent. The upgrade reflects confidence in the country's economic trajectory following strong expansion in the current fiscal year.

India's real gross domestic product expanded at 7.7 percent in FY26, representing a notable acceleration from 7.1 percent growth in the prior year. This sustained momentum has prompted the international ratings agency to increase its expectations for the coming fiscal period.

The revised Moody's forecast now exceeds the Reserve Bank of India's growth projections issued in June. The RBI had projected more conservative expansion figures, making the ratings agency's latest estimate notably more bullish on India's near-term economic prospects.

The forecast upgrade reflects growing confidence among major financial institutions in India's macroeconomic management and underlying growth drivers. However, analysts continue to monitor external factors and domestic policy decisions that could influence actual performance against these projections.
