Mother dies attempting rescue after daughter electrocuted by loose wire

A tragic electrocution incident claimed the life of a mother in Nathavaram village, Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh, early Thursday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. when Rongala Janaki, 28, touched a snapped electrical support wire that had loosened on her verandah during rainfall.
Witnesses say Janaki's mother immediately attempted to rescue her daughter upon witnessing the electrocution. In her desperate bid to help, she too came into contact with the live wire and was fatally electrocuted. Janaki's husband also suffered electrical injuries while attempting to intervene in the emergency.
The incident underscores the safety hazards posed by damaged electrical infrastructure during monsoon weather, when heavy rains can loosen or expose live wires. Loose or snapped support wires remain a recurring threat in residential areas, particularly in regions prone to severe weather conditions.
Local authorities have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the electrocution. Residents have called for urgent inspections of overhead electrical lines and support infrastructure in the area to prevent similar tragedies.
