Motilal Oswal Financial Services has launched the Nifty Midcap150 Plus 8-13 Year G-Sec 70:30 Index Fund, a hybrid investment vehicle designed to serve investors seeking exposure to India's mid-sized companies while maintaining downside protection through fixed-income allocation.
The fund's structure allocates three-quarters of assets to the Nifty Midcap150 index, which tracks 150 mid-sized companies listed on the National Stock Exchange, while the remaining 30% is invested in government securities with a maturity window of 8-13 years. This composition is intended to balance the growth trajectory of midcap stocks with the stability of sovereign debt instruments.
The allocation strategy reflects a middle-ground approach for investors with moderate to moderately aggressive risk appetites. The midcap component provides exposure to companies with higher growth potential than large-cap peers, while the government securities portion offers regular interest income and capital preservation characteristics typical of long-duration debt instruments.
The index fund structure allows investors to track a predetermined basket of securities rather than relying on active fund management decisions. This passive investment approach typically translates to lower expense ratios compared to actively managed funds, potentially benefiting long-term investors through reduced costs.
The launch adds to the growing suite of hybrid index funds available to Indian retail and institutional investors seeking customized risk-return profiles without the overhead of traditional active management.
