MotoGP officials met with team representatives on Sunday to address concerns surrounding the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix, reaffirming that the event would proceed as planned. The championship confirmed it had received no information that would justify postponing or relocating the race, which is set to take place next week.
Some riders had raised concerns about competing in Qatar given the current geopolitical situation in the region, particularly tensions involving Iran. These concerns prompted discussions between officials and teams regarding the safety and viability of hosting the event.
The paddock meeting in Malaysia provided officials the opportunity to address these apprehensions directly with team representatives. MotoGP officials stated that existing security protocols and intelligence assessments did not warrant any changes to the race schedule.
The Qatar Grand Prix remains a cornerstone event on the MotoGP calendar and has been held at the Lusail International Circuit for several years. The circuit is located in one of the world's most secure venues, with extensive safety measures already in place for the event.
