Motor Traffic Department launches WhatsApp channel for vehicle registration complaints

The Department of Motor Traffic has established a new communication channel to address public grievances related to motor vehicle registration procedures. Citizens encountering problems or experiencing delays when accessing departmental services can now lodge complaints via WhatsApp at 074 245 3300.

The move represents an effort by the department to modernize its complaint management system and make the process more accessible to the general public. By utilizing the widely-used messaging application, the department aims to facilitate easier communication between vehicle owners and officials.

Members of the public are invited to submit written details of any difficulties faced during the vehicle registration process, including information about service delays or other complications. The department stated that complaints submitted through the dedicated WhatsApp number will be documented and reviewed for action.

The introduction of the WhatsApp channel follows growing expectations for digital service delivery among government agencies in Sri Lanka, reflecting broader efforts to enhance citizen engagement and administrative efficiency across public institutions.
