The joint initiative, coordinated by the Regional Transport Office (Enforcement) in Ernakulam, has significantly strengthened road safety measures across the district. The comprehensive drive identified multiple categories of violations that pose serious risks to commuters and public safety. Among the 159 offences detected, driving without a valid licence emerged as a key concern, alongside cases of deliberate evasion of road tax obligations and failure to maintain valid insurance coverage. The enforcement team also identified instances of illegal vehicle modifications that compromised safety standards.
The violations resulted in cumulative fines totalling ₹8 lakh, underscoring the financial consequences for non-compliance with motor vehicle regulations. Officials from the RTO (Enforcement) attributed the success of the operation to coordinated efforts between transport authorities and local law enforcement agencies. The drive targeted both private vehicles and commercial transport operators to ensure comprehensive compliance across all vehicle categories.
The initiative reflects growing concerns over road safety compliance in Kerala. Authorities have emphasized that such enforcement operations will continue to be conducted periodically to maintain discipline on roads and ensure adherence to motor vehicle regulations. The RTO stated that public cooperation in maintaining legal compliance remains essential for reducing traffic-related incidents and promoting safer road environments across the region.
