Motorcyclist arrested with firearm, methamphetamine in Quezon

A 29-year-old motorcyclist was taken into custody Wednesday morning at a police checkpoint in Candelaria, Quezon province, after authorities discovered illegal drugs and a firearm in his possession. The suspect, identified by police as Luis, was stopped at approximately 11:30 a.m. during a routine inspection along a road in the municipality. Officers conducted a search of the motorcycle and discovered an unlicensed handgun and an undisclosed quantity of shabu, or crystal methamphetamine, according to a police statement released Thursday. The arrest adds to ongoing law enforcement efforts across the region targeting illegal firearms and drug trafficking. The suspect was turned over to local authorities for further investigation and processing of charges related to illegal possession of firearms and dangerous drugs.
