A landslide at Mount Fuji has prompted authorities to conclude the climbing season at one of Japan's most visited natural attractions. The earth movement occurred at a parking lot situated near one of the four primary access gates to the volcano, burying several vehicles under debris.
Emergency responders quickly located and extracted two individuals from the affected area. Officials confirmed that neither person sustained injuries in the incident, and rescue operations proceeded without complications.
The landslide marks an unexpected end to the summer hiking season at Mount Fuji, which typically concludes in early September. The incident has raised questions about geological stability at the popular tourist destination, which attracts thousands of climbers annually from around the world.
