MP, Meghalaya set up aid channels for tourists stranded in Nepal floods

The Madhya Pradesh government activated a control room in New Delhi on Thursday to coordinate assistance for tourists from the state affected by the natural disaster in Nepal. The facility will handle inquiries from stranded tourists and their relatives seeking information and aid.

Stranded individuals and concerned family members can access the control room through multiple channels: a dedicated helpline at 011-26772005, WhatsApp contact 9818963273, and email address recp1mpbhawan@mp.gov.in. The initiative comes as flash floods swept through three districts in Nepal on Wednesday, causing widespread destruction and casualties.

The disaster has emerged as one of Nepal's most severe in recent years, with hundreds reported missing in the aftermath. Indian authorities have identified approximately 300 Indian tourists among those unaccounted for, prompting coordinated response efforts from multiple state governments.

Meghalaya has similarly launched helpline services to assist affected residents from the northeastern state. Indian missions in Nepal are coordinating with local authorities to locate missing nationals and facilitate their evacuation, as rescue operations continue across the flood-affected regions.
