MP questions understaffing of major corridor survey project

A Member of Parliament has questioned the deployment of resources on a large-scale corridor survey project, highlighting what she described as insufficient initial staffing levels. Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis pointed out that only seven land officers were tasked with surveying the 706-kilometre corridor, a figure she suggested was disproportionate to the project's scope and complexity.

According to Isnaraissah, the project's scale warranted a larger workforce from inception. She noted that 12 private valuation firms were subsequently brought in to assist with the work, but this appointment came considerably later than the project's commencement, potentially affecting its efficiency and timeline.

The MP's remarks underscore broader concerns about project planning and resource allocation for large infrastructure-related surveys. Her comments suggest that the initial staffing arrangement may not have been adequately calibrated to handle the extensive geographical coverage required.

The issue raises questions about coordination between government agencies and the timing of private sector engagement in public projects of this magnitude. The corridor survey's final outcome and whether the delayed appointment of valuation firms impacted project delivery timelines remain unclear.
