MP urges faster rollout of MEMU services on Mangaluru-Palakkad route

The Member of Parliament met with the Divisional Railway Manager to discuss accelerating railway development initiatives in the region. Among the key issues raised was the need to introduce additional MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) services on the Mangaluru-Palakkad route, which would enhance connectivity and passenger capacity on this important corridor.

Raghavan sought commitments on expediting the allocation of five MEMU rakes from the Chennai headquarters for deployment at the Palakkad shed. The availability of these additional rake units is considered critical for expanding service frequency on the route and meeting growing passenger demand.

The discussions centered on streamlining bureaucratic processes to ensure swifter implementation of pending railway projects in the region. The Mangaluru-Palakkad corridor serves as a significant transport artery connecting Kerala and Karnataka, and improved MEMU services would benefit both regular commuters and regional trade.

Official sources indicated that the divisional railway authority acknowledged the requests and committed to examining the feasibility of expediting both the introduction of services and the allocation of rake units. The outcome of these deliberations is expected to influence scheduling and resource allocation decisions at the divisional level in the coming months.
