MP Urges NHAI to Restart DPR Work for Edappally-Aroor Elevated Highway
Lok Sabha member Hibi Eden has called on the National Highways Authority of India to resume preparation of the Detailed Project Report for an elevated highway corridor on the Edappally-Aroor National Highway bypass in Kerala.

Hibi Eden, Member of Parliament representing Ernakulam, has pressed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to expedite the Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation for a proposed elevated highway on the Edappally-Aroor NH bypass stretch. The intervention comes as a push to accelerate infrastructure development in the congested corridor linking two major commercial and residential zones in Kerala's Kochi region.
The elevated highway project is envisioned to decongest the existing bypass route, which handles substantial traffic volumes from industrial areas, residential localities, and commercial establishments. The DPR is a critical document that outlines the project's technical specifications, cost estimates, environmental impact assessments, and implementation timeline.
The MP's directive to NHAI reflects growing concerns about traffic management and road infrastructure capacity in the Ernakulam district. The project forms part of broader highway modernization initiatives across Kerala aimed at improving connectivity and reducing travel times on key national routes.
The NHAI, responsible for managing and developing national highways across India, will need to coordinate with state authorities and local stakeholders to move forward with the DPR preparation. Once completed, the report will form the basis for tender processes and eventual construction of the elevated corridor.
