MPSC exam paper leak fuels protests in Pune; opposition backs demands

A significant protest erupted in Pune as aspirants preparing for Maharashtra Public Service Commission examinations took to the streets to voice concerns over transparency and procedural failures. The march, which began at Omkareshwar Temple Chowk and proceeded to the Pune District Collectorate, reflected growing frustration among candidates over alleged paper leaks and examination irregularities.

Protesters submitted a formal charter of demands calling for the resignation of the MPSC chairman and secretary, citing the need for leadership with unblemished credentials. They also sought the immediate appointment of officers with "clean image" to restore public confidence in the commission's functioning.

Among the specific grievances, aspirants demanded that the MPSC provide a written response within eight days addressing concerns raised regarding the Drug Inspector Group-B examination. They also called for a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged irregularities affecting the recruitment process.

The demonstration received backing from opposition legislators, with NCP (Sharad Pawar) MLA Rohit Pawar and Congress legislator Vishwajit Kadam joining the protesters. Pawar stated that the government should prioritize fulfilling the aspirants' demands to restore institutional credibility and ensure fair recruitment procedures.
