MTRCB urges bus operators to show family-friendly content only

MANILA – The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has intensified efforts to ensure that bus terminals and transport hubs across the country comply with content regulations, beginning inspections on Tuesday as part of a nationwide sweep.

During the inspections, MTRCB officials reminded transport operators and terminal managers that in-vehicle entertainment systems must display only family-friendly programming suitable for all passengers, including children. The board emphasized that content screening at these public transport facilities falls under existing regulations governing media displayed in shared spaces.

The timing of the inspection drive coincides with the approaching All Saints' Day holiday, traditionally one of the busiest travel periods in the country as Filipinos journey to provincial cemeteries. Transport terminals typically experience significant passenger volumes during this period, heightening the importance of appropriate content in waiting areas and buses.

The MTRCB's directive underscores ongoing efforts to regulate media content in public venues. Transport operators found to be in violation of content standards may face penalties and corrective measures as determined by the board.
