MUIS introduces unified safeguarding standards for Singapore mosques

The Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) has announced plans to deploy a standardized safeguarding framework across mosques nationwide to enhance protection for children and young people in religious environments. The initiative comes after a child sexual abuse case involving a mosque was brought to public attention, prompting the authority to strengthen institutional safeguards.

The common framework is designed to establish consistent protocols and standards for child protection across all mosque facilities and programs.
