Multi-state cybercrime operation nets 101 arrests across South India

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has announced the arrest of 101 suspects in a significant multi-state cybercrime crackdown that spanned two weeks beginning September 23. The coordinated operation extended across Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Puducherry, reflecting the scale of illegal online activities in the region.

According to TGCSB Director Shika Goel, the enforcement drive was part of a broader strategy to dismantle cybercriminal networks operating across state boundaries. The operation targeted individuals involved in various online offences, though specific details regarding the nature of crimes and charges filed against the arrested suspects were not immediately disclosed.

The crackdown underscores growing concerns about cybercrime in India's southern states, where criminal syndicates have increasingly leveraged digital platforms for fraudulent activities, data theft, and other illicit operations. Law enforcement agencies across the region have intensified coordination to address the challenge.

The multi-state operation signals a shift toward more collaborative policing approaches in tackling cybercrime, with agencies sharing intelligence and conducting simultaneous raids to prevent suspects from escaping jurisdiction. Authorities indicated that investigations into the arrested individuals are ongoing.
