The individuals are expected to face charges involving misuse of authority and embezzlement related to investments made by Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), the Malaysian pilgrimage fund, according to a statement from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). MACC Chief Commissioner Abd Halim Aman confirmed the charges would proceed following investigations into the matter. The charges relate to the management and handling of the fund's investments, which have been subject to heightened scrutiny following the RCI's findings. The MACC statement did not specify the number of individuals who would be charged or their identities. The case marks a significant development in efforts to address governance issues at the Islamic pilgrimage fund, which manages savings for Malaysian Muslims preparing for the hajj pilgrimage. The investigation has uncovered allegations of financial irregularities and improper decision-making in the institution's investment activities.
