The legendary Lalbaugcha Raja idol was consigned to the Arabian Sea at approximately 10:50 am, concluding an elaborate procession that saw thousands of worshippers lining the streets of central Mumbai. The immersion marked the end of an 11-day festival period during which the ornate idol had been the focal point of elaborate celebrations in the Lalbaug area.
Shortly before, around 10 am, the Chinchpokhlicha Chintamani was immersed in a separate ceremony, drawing its own contingent of devoted followers. Both idols had become integral to Mumbai's cultural landscape, with their immersions signaling the formal conclusion of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities across the financial capital.
The twin immersions represent the culmination of weeks of preparation and celebration, during which these pandals served as important religious and social gathering points for residents.
