Mumbai firm eyes six-month timeline for Kochi tower demolition project

A Mumbai-based demolition firm has set an ambitious six-month timeline for razing the Chander Kunj apartment towers in Kochi and clearing the resulting debris from the site. Edifice Engineering, working alongside South African firm Jet Demolition, conducted detailed inspections of towers 'B' and 'C' over two days in June to assess the scope and scale of the project. The partnership between the two firms brings considerable expertise to the venture, having previously overseen the high-profile demolition of the Maradu apartment complexes in the same city. The preliminary survey phase is now complete, setting the stage for the next phase of the project, which is expected to proceed over the coming months. The demolition of Chander Kunj represents one of Kochi's significant urban renewal initiatives, addressing safety and regulatory compliance issues that necessitated the removal of the structures.
