The assault occurred when the accused approached his mother-in-law requesting funds to purchase drugs. When she refused his demand, tensions escalated, leading to a violent confrontation in which both the woman and his wife sustained stab wounds. Police responded to emergency calls and apprehended the accused at the scene.

The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. Medical officials confirmed both women were conscious and receiving care following the attack. Preliminary investigation suggests the accused had a history of substance abuse and financial disputes within the household.

Mumbai Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to attempt to murder and criminal intimidation. Investigators are examining the extent of the accused's drug dependency and the circumstances that contributed to the escalation of violence. The case highlights the intersection of substance abuse, domestic conflict, and violent crime in metropolitan areas.

Counselling services have been offered to family members as part of victim support measures. Police have urged residents to report suspected substance abuse cases and domestic violence incidents through official channels.
