Mumbai plumber killed as metro work site barricade collapses onto bike

Wasim Haidar Rizvi, a resident of Ashok Nagar in Ghatkopar, was fatally struck when a nearly 6x8-foot iron barricade suddenly collapsed onto his two-wheeler in the busy locality. The barricade, which had been erected as part of ongoing metro construction work, gave way without warning as the plumber was riding past.

Rizvi was rushed to a nearby hospital following the incident, but succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident. The collision occurred in close proximity to a biotech company building in the area, which is witnessing significant infrastructure development.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about safety protocols at active construction sites across the city, particularly regarding the structural integrity and proper installation of barriers meant to protect the public.
