Mumbai Police crack cyber fraud network; arrest three in Nagpur

Mumbai Police have arrested three suspects in Nagpur as part of a major crackdown on an organized cyber fraud operation, marking a significant development in tackling investment-related online scams across the country.

The investigation was initiated following a share trading investment fraud case registered at the South Region Cyber Police Station. Authorities traced ₹24.75 lakh from the fraudulent transaction to a current account opened under a company name at the Central Bank of India's Jaripatka branch in Nagpur. This financial trail proved instrumental in identifying the suspects and uncovering their network.

Preliminary investigations have established connections between the arrested individuals and 73 cyber fraud cases registered across multiple states in India. The cases primarily involve investment schemes, with perpetrators targeting victims through false promises of returns from share trading platforms and related financial instruments.

Police said the racket operated by deceiving investors into depositing money into accounts controlled by the network. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify additional members of the gang and recover funds from other fraudulent transactions. The arrest has been hailed as a step forward in combating the growing menace of online financial fraud in the country.
