Mumbai Police Deny Permission for Cockroach Janata Party Rally at Shivaji Park

The Mumbai Police have declined permission for the Cockroach Janata Party's planned demonstration at Shivaji Park scheduled for October 2, according to an official rejection notice issued this week.

Authorities cited three primary reasons for the denial. Police stated that they were bound by directives issued by the high court regarding public gatherings at the central Mumbai venue. Additionally, the municipal corporation has not granted the necessary clearance for the proposed event, which constitutes a significant procedural impediment.

Traffic management concerns also factored into the decision. Police authorities noted that the demonstration would likely cause substantial disruptions to vehicular movement in the area, which is a major commercial and transportation hub in the city.

Shivaji Park, located in Dadar, is a high-profile public space that frequently hosts political rallies and public events. The rejection follows standard police procedures requiring multiple approvals before permitting large gatherings in the park. The party may pursue alternative venues or appeal the decision through proper legal channels if they wish to proceed with their planned demonstration.
