Mumbai suburban rail signalling system restored after major disruption

Railway officials confirmed that signalling systems have been brought back online across Mumbai's suburban railway network following a widespread disruption. The outage had impacted operations on multiple lines, including the fifth and sixth routes typically reserved for long-distance train services, alongside the primary suburban corridors.

According to railway authorities, approximately 24 signals across the affected lines had malfunctioned during the incident. The restoration effort required coordinated technical work to restore full signalling capacity on all impacted sections of the network.

Mumbai's suburban railway system serves as a crucial transport artery for the metropolis, carrying hundreds of thousands of commuters daily across its extensive network. Any disruption to signalling systems can cause cascading delays across the entire system, making rapid restoration critical for maintaining service continuity.

Railway officials have not disclosed the cause of the signalling failure or provided details on the duration of the outage. The successful restoration marks a return to normal operations for the network's scheduled services and long-distance trains that utilize these routes.
