The civic-run transport authority has announced plans to deploy 136 extra buses to manage increased commuter demand during the Raksha Bandhan festival period. The special services will commence operations from 10:30 am onwards, operating from various BEST depots strategically located across Mumbai and adjoining regions.

Raksha Bandhan, the cherished festival celebrating the bond between siblings, typically sees heightened mobility as families travel to reunite and exchange festivities. To accommodate this seasonal surge, BEST has coordinated with its operational teams to ensure adequate transport capacity across key routes and transit corridors.

The additional buses will be positioned to serve both intra-city commutes and connections to neighbouring areas, officials stated. The enhanced fleet deployment reflects the transport utility's efforts to prevent congestion and provide reliable service during the festival period.

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and utilize the extended bus network to ensure smooth travel during the Raksha Bandhan celebrations. The special services are expected to remain operational through the festival period as per demand assessment.
