A murder suspect identified as Raju was taken into custody by Mau police after attempting to fake his own death to escape life imprisonment charges. The accused had employed multiple tactics to convince authorities of his demise, including obtaining artificially generated photographs purporting to show his body at a cremation ground.
In a scheme to make the deception appear credible, Raju reportedly arranged for a goat to be cremated on a funeral pyre while authorities were led to believe it was his own body. He subsequently obtained a forged death certificate from Gazipur, creating an official record of his purported death.
The suspect managed to evade police detection for approximately 18 months through this elaborate ruse. However, investigations by Mau police eventually exposed inconsistencies in the documentation and circumstances surrounding his supposed death.
Authorities apprehended Raju and remanded him to judicial custody to face charges related to both the original murder allegation and the subsequent attempt to obstruct justice through fraudulent means. The case highlights the evolving challenges law enforcement faces in combating sophisticated deception tactics.
