Musk accuses Ambani backers of 'hypocrisy' over Starlink India entry

The Tesla chief took to social media on Sunday to target what he described as "absurd hypocrisy and hyperbole" among those defending Ambani's position against Starlink's expansion into India. Musk highlighted what he characterized as a fundamental logical inconsistency in their arguments: simultaneously claiming that Starlink cannot compete with the "amazing low prices" of Ambani's telecommunications offerings, while also suggesting the satellite service poses a significant competitive threat.

Musk argued that increased competition would ultimately benefit ordinary Indian consumers by expanding service options and potentially compelling providers to maintain competitive pricing. He suggested that Ambani's profitability might be affected, but stressed the billionaire's business would not be threatened by Starlink's arrival. The entrepreneur further contended that if Starlink's services proved too expensive for the Indian market, consumers would simply decline to purchase them, forcing the company to adjust its pricing strategy accordingly.

According to Musk, the arguments presented by Ambani's supporters are internally contradictory and logically untenable. He dismissed their concerns as "ridiculous arguments" that do not withstand scrutiny. The escalating war of words reflects broader tensions surrounding Starlink's regulatory approval process in India, where telecommunications operators have raised concerns about market competition and pricing dynamics.
