Elon Musk has escalated his position on Starlink's regulatory troubles in India, asserting that the satellite internet service has adhered to all legal requirements yet remains unable to secure necessary operating licences. In posts addressing the licensing impasse, Musk questioned the rationale behind the denial, implying that compliance with existing laws should suffice for approval.

The Tesla and SpaceX chief had previously attributed the service's inability to launch in India to obstruction by "oligarchs," framing the issue as a competitive or political matter rather than a regulatory one. His latest statements suggest he views the licensing requirements themselves as potentially unjustified barriers.

Starlink has been seeking permits to operate its satellite internet service in India for over a year, positioning itself as a solution to expand broadband connectivity in remote areas. The company faces competition from established telecom operators and has encountered resistance from various quarters, including concerns about spectrum allocation and market impact.

The Indian government has not formally rejected Starlink's application but has not approved it either, with regulatory bodies examining compliance with local telecommunications laws. The standoff remains unresolved, with Starlink unable to commence commercial operations while the licensing matter remains pending.
