Muslim communities mark PM Modi's birthday with Quran recitations, shrine vigils

Muslim communities in India have chosen a distinctive approach to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 76th birthday, blending religious observance with public commemoration. The celebrations reflect the stated ethos of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' (together with all, development for all).

Throughout the day, major mosques across the country are hosting Quran recitations and conducting special prayers seeking blessings for the Prime Minister's long life and wellbeing. These ceremonies represent a convergence of religious practice and civic participation, with community leaders emphasising the importance of such inclusive gestures.

As evening approaches, the festivities are set to extend to several of India's most revered Sufi shrines. Historic dargahs, including the renowned Hazrat Nizamuddin in New Delhi and Ajmer Sharif in Rajasthan, are scheduled to host lamp-lighting ceremonies. The 'Aashirwad ka Diya' (lamp of blessings) initiative aims to symbolise collective wishes for the Prime Minister's health and continued service.

The multi-city observance underscores efforts to foster communal harmony and demonstrate the participation of Muslim communities in national celebrations. Such interfaith and cross-community gestures have become increasingly visible during significant national occasions in recent years.
