Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has urged Muslim scholars and intellectuals to take the lead in mastering artificial intelligence and modern technologies, emphasising the importance of doing so while safeguarding Islamic faith and ethical values. Speaking in Kerala, India, Anwar stressed that the Muslim world cannot afford to lag behind in the technological revolution reshaping global society. He argued that engagement with AI should not be viewed as incompatible with religious principles, but rather as an opportunity for the Islamic community to shape how these powerful tools develop and are deployed. Anwar's call reflects growing concern among Muslim-majority nations about ensuring their communities remain competitive in the digital economy while maintaining cultural and religious identity. The Prime Minister emphasised that Islamic scholars are uniquely positioned to guide the adoption of AI in ways that align with Quranic values and moral frameworks, preventing technology from being developed in ways that contradict Islamic teachings.
