Platform operators have clarified the technical architecture of MyDigital ID, emphasising that the system does not rely on third-party blockchain technology for its operations. The platform has been designed to function independently without integrating external distributed ledger systems that could introduce additional data security considerations.
A key distinction established by the platform's administrators is that MyDigital ID does not retain users' personal information within its database. This approach aims to address privacy concerns by minimising the volume of sensitive data stored centrally, reducing potential exposure in the event of unauthorised access.
Official statements confirm that MyDigital ID will not serve as a replacement for MyKad, Malaysia's national identity card, for purposes requiring formal identification. The digital platform is positioned as a supplementary identity verification tool rather than a substitute for the physical identification document that remains the primary credential for official recognition.
The clarifications come as Malaysia continues to develop its digital infrastructure and identity verification systems. The MyDigital ID initiative forms part of broader government efforts to modernise citizen services while maintaining robust data protection standards.
