MyKad printing services to undergo nationwide shutdown until end August
Malaysia's identity card printing operations will be temporarily halted from tomorrow through August 31, affecting citizens seeking to renew or obtain MyKad documents nationwide.

PUTRAJAYA — The National Registration Department has announced a temporary suspension of MyKad printing services across all centres in Malaysia, effective from August 26 through August 31. The planned disruption will impact citizens attempting to renew expired identity cards or obtain new documents during the period.
The department stated that the halt is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance and system upgrades at printing facilities. Citizens are advised to plan accordingly and defer non-urgent MyKad applications until after the suspension period concludes.
No alternative arrangements or mobile printing services have been announced for the affected dates. Individuals requiring urgent MyKad services are encouraged to contact their nearest registration office for guidance on alternative options.
The National Registration Department emphasised that the temporary disruption is part of ongoing efforts to modernise its infrastructure and improve service delivery. Normal operations are expected to resume on September 1.
