Victims of a major investment fraud in Chennai's Mylapore neighbourhood are intensifying calls for accelerated judicial proceedings as their case languishes in the system. The dispute centres on the Mylapore Hindu Permanent Fund Nidhi, a savings and investment scheme that attracted substantial investor participation before its operations came under scrutiny.

Entrepreneur and politician Devanathan Yadav, who headed the organisation, was arrested following allegations that the fund mismanaged or misappropriated investor deposits. The scheme, which marketed itself as a permanent fund offering returns to members, became the subject of investigation after complaints regarding irregularities in fund management surfaced.

Affected investors have organised to demand faster case resolution, citing mounting personal financial hardship. Many depositors invested their life savings with the expectation of steady returns, only to find their funds inaccessible as regulatory authorities moved in to investigate the scheme's operations.

The case represents one of several large-scale investment frauds to emerge in South India in recent years, raising questions about oversight mechanisms for non-banking financial entities. Authorities have so far recovered portions of the disputed funds, though the distribution process remains pending court approval.

Legal proceedings continue with investors expressing frustration over delays, as they await compensation and clarity on the status of their investments.
