Mysuru Palace served as the venue for the inaugural rehearsal of the Jamboo Savari, the iconic procession that forms the centrepiece of the city's annual Dasara celebrations. The practice session brought together the various elements that comprise this centuries-old tradition, allowing organisers to coordinate logistics and timing ahead of the main event.
Among the key components demonstrated during the rehearsal was the flower-showering ritual performed on the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari, the presiding deity of Mysuru. The ceremony underscores the spiritual significance of the Jamboo Savari, which traditionally carries the goddess's idol through the palace grounds in a procession featuring decorated elephants and elaborate pageantry.
The rehearsal provided an opportunity to test arrangements and ensure smooth execution of the various ceremonial elements. Officials overseeing the event used the practice run to refine coordination between different departments and participants involved in conducting the procession.
The Jamboo Savari remains one of India's most celebrated cultural spectacles, attracting visitors and devotees from across the country. The annual event, held during Dasara, showcases Karnataka's rich traditions and the historic significance of Mysuru's royal heritage.
