Nadda Sets March Timeline for AIIMS Srinagar as Phase-I Nears Completion

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda has set a March deadline for the completion and handover of Phase-I facilities at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Srinagar, signaling renewed momentum in the region's healthcare infrastructure development.

During a comprehensive review of the project's phased construction and handover strategy, Nadda was briefed on significant progress achieved on multiple fronts. Completed Phase-I buildings include the Out-Patient Department (OPD) Registration Block and main OPD Block, alongside residential accommodation and designated hostel facilities designed to support medical staff and trainees.

The establishment of AIIMS in Kashmir represents a major investment in the region's healthcare sector, aimed at providing tertiary-level medical services and reducing patient burden on institutions outside the Union Territory. The facility is expected to enhance medical education and research capabilities while generating significant employment opportunities.

Official sources indicated that the accelerated timeline reflects the ministry's commitment to operationalizing critical healthcare infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. The phased approach allows for staged commissioning of services, beginning with outpatient and diagnostic facilities before progressing to inpatient and specialized departments in subsequent phases.
