The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) has outlined plans to utilise RM260 million from the 2027 federal budget to enhance the country's disaster preparedness and response infrastructure, according to Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi. The allocation will focus on establishing additional relief centres and procuring modern equipment to better serve affected communities during emergencies.
Nadma's strategic deployment of the funds represents a continued government commitment to strengthening disaster management systems across the nation. The investment aims to improve response times and the quality of assistance provided to residents impacted by natural disasters and other emergencies.
The allocation reflects growing recognition of the importance of disaster preparedness in a region increasingly vulnerable to climate-related events and other potential hazards. With enhanced facilities and equipment, Nadma will be better positioned to coordinate relief operations and support local authorities in managing crisis situations.
The initiative forms part of the government's broader public safety agenda outlined in Budget 2027, which prioritises infrastructure development and institutional capacity-building across key sectors.
