LEGAZPI CITY — Naga city officials have launched an aggressive water conservation initiative ahead of what meteorologists predict could be an extended dry season caused by the Super El Niño pattern. The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has begun urging residents and businesses to adopt immediate water-saving measures to mitigate potential shortages during the critical period.
According to CDRRMO officials, sporadic rainfall events anticipated during the dry spell may not be sufficient to restore underground water aquifers to adequate levels. The office has emphasized that proactive conservation efforts now could make a substantial difference in ensuring water availability for essential needs during the months ahead.
The water conservation campaign includes public advisories on reducing household consumption, maintaining water infrastructure, and preparing contingency supplies. Local government units are also coordinating with water utility providers to monitor system performance and identify potential vulnerabilities in the city's water distribution network.
Residents have been advised to begin implementing water-saving practices immediately, including fixing leaks, reducing non-essential water use, and storing emergency water reserves. The CDRRMO stressed that early action by households and businesses would be critical in reducing strain on the city's water resources during the anticipated dry period.
