NAGOYA — Organisers of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games acknowledged challenges with the compact athlete accommodation on Wednesday, defending their decision to house competitors in container-style blocks while suggesting alternative solutions.
The temporary residential units, designed to lodge athletes during the regional sporting event, drew criticism from some competitors regarding limited space and bed sizes. Games organisers said the configuration was a practical choice for the multi-sport gathering but conceded that certain adjustments might have enhanced the experience.
Official statements indicated that ottoman-style furniture extensions could have provided additional comfort options for taller athletes whose frames exceeded standard sleeping arrangements.
