MANILA — The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) is preparing for a surge in air travel as the country observes the traditional Undas season, with projections showing the airport will exceed one million passenger movements across the holiday period.
The airport operator expects approximately 144,000 passengers to transit through NAIA on Monday, All Souls' Day, following a busy stretch from October 27 through November 1 that saw 868,423 travelers pass through the nation's primary aviation hub. The combined figures are expected to push total Undas season traffic beyond the one-million-passenger threshold.
The surge reflects the long-standing Filipino tradition of visiting cemeteries and family burial sites during the All Saints' and All Souls' Days observance, driving both domestic and international travel demand. NAIA has been actively managing airport operations to accommodate the influx while maintaining service efficiency during the peak holiday period.
Airline operators and ground service providers have implemented contingency measures to handle the elevated passenger volumes, with the airport authority coordinating schedules and resource deployment across its terminals to facilitate smooth processing of travelers.
