MANILA — Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon visited Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Friday to assess operational readiness ahead of the Undas travel season, the country's busiest period for domestic and international air travel.
The inspection comes as authorities project that the airport will process around 1.2 million travelers during the All Saints' and All Souls' Days holiday period in 2026. The visit reflects a presidential directive to ensure the terminal maintains safe and comfortable conditions for passengers during peak travel periods.
Terminal 1 remains a critical component of NAIA's capacity to accommodate the surge in passenger volume during major holiday seasons. The facility's preparation includes coordination between airport management and transport authorities to streamline processes and maintain service standards.
The Undas travel period traditionally sees significant congestion at airports as Filipinos travel to provinces to pay respects to deceased loved ones. Ensuring adequate infrastructure and services during this time remains a priority for the Department of Transportation.
