Najib solidarity fund reaches RM9.25m, trails RM50m target
The fundraising campaign for former Prime Minister Najib Razak has accumulated RM9.25 million in nine days, but organisers still need to collect RM40.75 million to reach their stated goal.

KUALA LUMPUR — Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund has garnered RM9.25 million since its launch, leaving a substantial shortfall against the RM50 million target.
The fund was established to support the former premier as he navigates legal proceedings stemming from charges related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal. Zahid, who is also Umno president, disclosed the fundraising progress during a recent statement to the media.
With nearly RM41 million still needed, organisers have approximately 41 days remaining in their campaign window to close the gap. The fundraising effort has drawn contributions from various individuals and groups across the country, reflecting divisions within Malaysian society over the high-profile case.
Najib has consistently maintained his innocence and has appealed his conviction in court proceedings. The solidarity fund represents one of several public initiatives aimed at raising resources for his legal defence team as appeals progress through the Malaysian judiciary.
Organisers have not disclosed specific timeframes for concluding the fundraising campaign or clarified whether the RM50 million threshold is a hard deadline or indicative target figure.
