Najib yet to receive official conditional release documentation, lawyer says
Former Prime Minister Najib Razak has not yet received formal written notification of his conditional release conditions, his legal team said Tuesday. The delay has hampered efforts to fully understand the terms of the pardon granted to the former premier.

Najib's counsel Shafee Abdullah said the absence of official documentation has complicated the legal team's ability to take appropriate action on behalf of their client. Without written confirmation of the full conditions attached to the conditional release, the defence has been unable to proceed with certain procedural matters that may be required under the terms.
The former premier's legal representatives indicated they require the formal letter from the relevant authorities to properly advise their client and ensure compliance with all stipulated conditions. Shafee said the delay was not a matter of non-cooperation but rather a procedural necessity, as they cannot act definitively without official documentation.
Najib was granted a conditional release by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in November 2024, but full details of the arrangement have remained unclear. The situation underscores the importance of clear communication between the judiciary and legal representatives when formal orders are implemented.
The legal team is expected to proceed with further action once the official documentation is received and the complete terms of the conditional release are formally communicated.
