National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) is entering a new phase of expansion with a ₹30,000 crore investment programme aimed at strengthening its production footprint across mining, refining and smelting operations. The company is advancing multiple growth initiatives that include setting up a new smelter facility, establishing a captive power plant and expanding its mining operations to support long-term capacity growth.
The expansion plans come as Nalco's flagship Damanjodi refinery undertakes a significant capacity expansion project that is now progressing towards the commissioning stage. This modernisation effort is expected to enhance the refinery's output and operational efficiency once fully operational.
The planned investments reflect Nalco's strategy to capitalise on robust demand for aluminium across domestic industries spanning automotive, construction, packaging and consumer goods sectors. The additions to smelting capacity and dedicated power generation are designed to reduce production costs and improve margins in an increasingly competitive global aluminium market.
As a state-run enterprise, Nalco plays a pivotal role in India's mineral processing and metals production landscape. The expansion programme underscores the company's commitment to increasing its contribution to the country's domestic aluminium availability while strengthening its competitive position regionally.
