Namibian cheetah dies at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh
Gaurav, a male cheetah translocated from Namibia to India's Kuno National Park, has died during treatment. The 10-year-old big cat was found in a weakened state in the forest on September 12.

A male cheetah brought to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh as part of India's wildlife reintroduction programme has died, park authorities said. Gaurav, over 10 years old, was discovered in a debilitated condition in the forest on September 12 and brought in for medical care.
According to park management, the cheetah was suffering from severe dehydration and muscle weakness at the time of discovery. Despite treatment efforts, Gaurav could not recover and succumbed during the course of care.
The exact cause of death will be determined once the postmortem examination and detailed medical reports are completed. Park officials have not yet disclosed preliminary findings regarding the circumstances that led to the animal's deterioration.
Gaurav was among several cheetahs relocated from Namibia to Kuno National Park as part of India's ambitious cheetah reintroduction project. The programme aims to restore the big cat population in India, where cheetahs were declared extinct in 1952.
