NARVACAN, Ilocos Sur — The municipality of Narvacan formally inaugurated its inaugural Bagnet Festival on Saturday, September 26, marking a new addition to the region's cultural calendar during the nationwide Tourism Month observance.
The festival was designed to showcase Narvacan's distinctive food culture, local artisanal products, and community traditions while fostering unity among residents and encouraging civic participation. Mayor Edna Cabalo Sanidad said the event reflects the municipality's commitment to preserving its heritage while promoting economic development through tourism and cultural promotion.
Bagnet, a crispy deep-fried pork delicacy that is iconic to the Ilocos region, served as the centerpiece for the celebration. The festival provided a platform for local entrepreneurs, artisans, and food producers to display their wares to visitors and potential customers.
Official organizers indicated the event would become an annual tradition, with plans to expand the festival's scope and attractions in future years to draw greater regional and national attention to Narvacan's cultural significance.
